Connected, but sites don't open

Turn the VPN off and on. If that does not help, turn it off and check the internet without it. Switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or choose another country. Some Wi‑Fi networks in hotels and offices require you to sign in on their page first — do that with the VPN off, then connect.
