Privacy overview
The plain-language version of what we hold. The Privacy Policy is the authoritative document.
- No phone number, no SMS, no email address and no password are required.
- Message content, calls and attachments are end-to-end encrypted; we do not hold the keys.
- An undelivered message waits on our servers, encrypted, for at most 24 hours.
- Encrypted attachments are held for at most 30 days.
- If you turn on message backups, an encrypted archive of your messages is stored with us until you turn backups off. We cannot read it.
- We do not sell data, show advertising, or use third-party analytics or tracking.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
What we do hold#
A server has to know where to deliver a message, so we hold your account record, your devices' public keys, your profile, a push token and an encrypted copy of your settings. The full list, field by field, is in What your account holds; the authoritative text is the Privacy Policy.
