Message requests
What happens when somebody you have never spoken to writes to you.
A message from someone who is not in your contacts arrives as a request. You see who it is — their QuiNVarium number, and their name and picture if they set one — and the message, and you decide. Until you accept, the sender is not told whether you have read it.
Accept, delete or block#
Accepting starts a normal conversation. Deleting removes the request. Blocking removes it and stops that account reaching you again; you can report the sender at the same time.
Why this exists#
Your address can be passed on by the people you gave it to, so a stranger can end up holding it. The request step means an unwanted first message costs you one tap rather than a conversation.
