How attachments are sent and how long we hold them.
Photos, files and voice messages are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded. What reaches our servers is an encrypted file with no readable name.
The encrypted file is stored for up to 30 days, so the recipient's device can fetch it, and is then removed. Once fetched it lives on the recipient's device; deleting it from your side does not reach that copy.
Size#
Large files are split and reassembled by the app. If an upload fails repeatedly, check the connection and try a smaller file.
