Disappearing messages

Any conversation can be set so that messages disappear from both sides after a chosen time. The timer starts when the message is read and runs on the devices, not on our servers.

Disappearing messages protect against someone later picking up an unlocked phone. They do not protect against a recipient who takes a photograph of the screen while the message is visible.

Changing the timer is recorded in the conversation, so both sides can see that it changed.
